Settled atop the majestic Lubombo Mountains in Eswatini, Mabuda Guest Farm is not just an accommodation; it is an experience. Nicknamed “Place of Dreams”, this working farm offers a tranquil escape amidst breath-taking scenery, rich farm life and genuine Swazi hospitality. It is renown as the place where time stands still. A brush of nature where the wind whispers tales of by-gone days and the dust clouds drift like shadows behind the old Ford tractors. The beauty and tranquillity of the surrounding farm life are two of Mabuda’s best features. It is recognised for its variety of indigenous bush, birdlife, insects and frogs. All of which can be enjoyed on any of the farm walks or horse rides.
Mabuda Farm has been a part of the family since the 1930’s when Carl Todd (Helen Pons’s grandfather) purchased the farm. Jonathan and Helen Pons took over ownership in 1997 and have since remained committed to the people of Eswatini. Helen manages the Guest Farm and farm administration. Mabuda Guest Farm’s mission statement is to provide, prosper and protect. The provision factor involves providing nutrition for the people of the Lubombo, by farming in a sustainable and low-carbon manner and by producing high-quality foods. The prosperity aspect speaks to the people of the Lubombo, by improving livelihood and skills, offering discipleship and by empowering others such as NGOs to do more. Last but not least, the protection aspect entails protecting Lubombo biodiversity and landscape by research, advocacy and farm practices that preserve the environment. This involves working in a collaborative manner with communities and the local conservancy.
Breathe in the crisp mountain air and soak in panoramic views of rolling valleys and distant peaks. Explore diverse terrains, discover indigenous flora and vibrant birdlife. Horseback riding adventures weave through fields and forests, offering a unique perspective of the farm’s beauty.
Choose from various accommodations, each imbued with rustic charm and character. Rondavels, traditional African huts, provide a cosy experience close to nature. Chalets boast modern amenities and private verandas with stunning vistas. Camp beneath a starry sky, enjoying the simple pleasures of the outdoors.
