Eswatini Official Tour Guide Course

This is the only Official Tourist Guide Course of Eswatini, recognised by the Ministry of Tourism and the Eswatini Tourism Authority.

The 3 day course offers a great opportunity for tour guides to gather an in-depth knowledge of the country and to become officially accredited as Tourist Guides of Eswatini. The next course is scheduled for June 2020.

The course is largely sponsored by the private sector – Hospitality & Tourism Association of Eswatini so the cost to Guides is minimal.

The cost includes all lectures and course notes, all transport around Eswatini (Guides travelling from Pretoria/Gauteng may use the coach hired for the Course), Accommodation with all meals and cocktail party, Certificate and Tourist Guide Official name badge.

The Guides are transported around Eswatini by coach to familiarise them with various attractions, including the local Swazi markets, Sibebe Rock and so on. The climax of their visit here is the cocktail party  –  this is held to welcome all the participants and also to showcase Eswatini – to show off as many of our attractions as possible. It opens up new possibilities for Eswatini and it gives the visitors the chance to meet with government and private sector people who are involved in the Eswatini tourism industry. In this way, valuable new contacts are made.

During the course, the Guides attend intensive lectures in various places. The subjects covered include :

Geography, Conservation, Flora & Fauna of Eswatini;

Early Swazi History  –  at the National Museum;

Modern Swazi History  –  at the King Sobhuza Memorial Park;

Current Affairs  –  at Parliament ;

Archaeology  –  at the Old Ngwenya Mine ;

Swazi Culture  –  at the Mantenga Cultural Village.

The course is open to Tourist Guides wanting to learn more about Eswatini and gain accreditation as Official Eswatini Tourist Guide. Through this Course, the Guides are able to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the Kingdom.  We hope that their experiences will be a lasting memory for them and that they will be able to happily recommend Eswatini as a unique destination. This Course will enable the participants to market Eswatini with real confidence.
