Wide Horizons Mountain Retreat
Welcome to Wide Horizons. We are nestled in the majestic Makungustsha Mountains in the heart of the Kingdom of Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland).
This is a “get away from it all” location, on top of the world in a remote area of the Kingdom. Complete with wildlife in our conservation area, well stocked dams for fishing, surrounded by glorious indigenous forests full of birdsong, with meandering trails following cascading streams to soothe your soul and get back to nature. Not to mention amazing views of the valley everywhere you look!

There is a lot to explore around the lodge! If you would like to take a hike, or lounge about the pool before you depart you are welcome to stay a little longer, just let us know so we can make arrangements!
Meals
Breakfast & Dinner is available for guests interested in family style dining. We would love to have you at the dinner table with us, so please let us know if you are interested in joining, and if you have any dietary requirements/allergies, before you arrive. Prebooking at least 48 hours in advance is essential.

VALLEY VIEW ROOM | SLEEPS 2
A room with a view! The Valley View room offers one of the best views at Wide Horizons, from your door step. Sleep under an authentic thatch roof, in this spacious roundavel room. En-suite bathroom includes a bath and separate shower. This suite also offers a full separate kitchen/dining area complete with a mini fridge, gas stove/oven and sink. The dining area offers a great option for an additional single bed.
AMANZI ROOM | SLEEPS 2
The Amanzi Room is named from the small stream that runs throughout the property, winding in front of this rooms’ private patio. Sleep under an authentic thatch roof in this spacious roundavel room. En-suite bathroom includes a shower. Combined with the adjoining Blue Room, the Amanzi Room makes a great family suite!
BLUE ROOM | SLEEPS 3
Full of character and charm the Blue Room is extremely versatile which offers privacy, a private patio, garden views and close proximity to communal areas and amenities. En-suite bathroom includes a shower. This room offers several alternate sleeping arrangements to suit your needs. Including bunk beds and a baby cot.
ROSE COTTAGE | SLEEPS 5
A charming separate cottage, with authentic thatch roof, makes Rose Cottage perfect for small groups or families. This is our largest accommodation option at Wide Horizons, with 2-stories to sleep up to 5 guests. The upstairs loft offers a unique sleeping option with privacy, with the downstairs sleeping additional guests in single beds. The cottage is complete with a full kitchen including a refrigerator, gas stove/oven and sink. Bathroom includes a bath/shower combination.
LIGWALAGWALA | SLEEPS 3
Our newest addition at Wide Horizons! This modern Cottage is located a 250 meters from the main lodge, with a completely private yard. The studio is spacious, offering sleeping arrangements perfect for a small family. Complete with a kitchenette and large veranda ideal for sunset dinners. This space also offers a full outdoor kitchen and separate bathroom (complete with an outdoor shower with a vie over the valley).
ALOE TENTED CAMP
Nick named the “Romantic Camp”, the Aloe Tented Camp is perfect for a couple. The permanent safari-style tent rivals our brick and mortar accommodation when it comes to style and privacy. Sleep in this spacious tent in the comfort of a queen size bed with en-suite bathroom which includes a corner bath (for 2!). The site also includes a separate, covered full kitchen including a refrigerator, gas stove/oven and sink, or you can also use the private braai. This site is set a 150 meters from the main lodge offering complete privacy and stunning sunset views.
WEAVERS NEST TENTED CAMP
Family “glamping” in style, the Weavers Nest Tented Camp is a great way to upgrade your family camping trip! 2 permanent safari-style tents sleep 2 each, offering privacy and comfort. A separate, covered full kitchen including a refrigerator, gas stove/oven and sink, or you can also use the private braai. The outdoor bathroom includes a shower. The main lodge is just steps away offering many communal amenities such as a natural pool and hiking trails suitable for children.

Activities at Wide Horizons
HIKING
There are several hiking trails around the lodge itself. Difficulty levels of the hiking trails from the easy going meander to serious mountain hiking for stunning views. The Sculpture Trail is a family favorite and very popular with the kids!
FISHING
There are several well stocked dams on the farm. Fish include tilapia and bass. The dams are also scenic for sundowners with a rustic shack for shelter, braai and dinghy for fun.
WILDLIFE & GAME
The Wide Horizons estate spans 180 hectares of conservation area.

ADVENTURE CENTRE
In June 2019, an Adventure Centre was opened at Wide Horizons for campers and backpackers. With games, hikes, wilderness trails, campfires and much more on offer, the Centre will play host to a series of events through the year including Youth Adventure Camps, Boot Camps and Yoga Retreats.
